Attorney Match Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-06-02
Last updated: 2026-06-02
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you," "your," or "User") and Martello Systems LLC ("Martello Systems," "Company," "we," "us," or "our"), the operator of Attorney Match, available at attorneymatch.app and related subdomains, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service").
Please read these Terms carefully. Section 5 (Informational Directory & Matching Tool / No Legal Advice), Section 11 (Disclaimers of Warranties), Section 12 (Limitation of Liability), and Section 16 (Governing Law & Dispute Resolution, including a binding arbitration provision and class-action waiver) are especially important and affect your legal rights.
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the Service, submitting a case, providing payment, or clicking to accept these Terms, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Service.
If you are using the Service on behalf of another person or an entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that person or entity to these Terms, and "you" refers to both you individually and that person or entity.
We may update these Terms from time to time as described in Section 15. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
Attorney Match is a software-based informational directory and matching tool. When you describe a legal situation and pay the applicable fee, the Service uses automated processing to, among other things:
- Classify the general nature of your described situation and the practice areas it appears to involve;
- Generate a ranked shortlist of attorneys whose publicly available practice profiles appear to match your described matter and your jurisdiction (the number of matches varies by state and practice area, and may be small);
- Produce draft outreach communications ("letters") that you may choose to edit and send to the attorneys on your shortlist;
- Allow you to filter and refine an existing results set, and to run a new case as a separate paid run.
Attorney listings are drawn from publicly available sources — such as state-bar licensee data and public court records (including data from the Free Law Project / CourtListener) — and from attorneys who voluntarily claim and enrich their own listings. Attorneys do not pay to appear and do not pay for higher rankings.
The Service is an informational directory and matching tool only. We do not represent you, do not contact attorneys on your behalf, do not evaluate the merits of your matter, and do not guarantee any outcome, response, or representation. See Sections 5 and 6.
We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
3. Eligibility & Accounts
- Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is intended for use by individuals located in the United States.
- Email-based access. The public flow does not require a traditional login. When you submit a case, we deliver a private, high-entropy access link to the email address you provide. Anyone with that link can view your results, so treat your results link like a password — do not forward it to anyone you do not want to see your case.
- Accuracy of your information. You are responsible for the accuracy of the case description, contact details, and any documents you submit. The Service's matching and letter outputs depend on the accuracy and completeness of what you provide.
- Account security. You are responsible for safeguarding your email account and your results link, and for all activity that occurs through them. Notify us promptly at support@attorneymatch.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Payments & Fees
- One-time, per-case fees. The Service is sold as a one-time charge per case run — currently $10 for an initial case and $5 for a subsequent re-run on an existing account. There is no subscription, no recurring charge, and no free trial. Filtering and refining an existing results set is free.
- Payment processing via Stripe. All payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, Inc. By providing a payment method, you authorize us and Stripe to charge that method for the applicable fee. We do not store your full payment card numbers; see our Privacy Policy.
- Pricing and taxes. Prices are stated in U.S. dollars and exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. We may change our prices at any time; the price shown at the point of purchase applies to that run. You are responsible for any applicable taxes.
- Refunds. Because the entire cost of a case run is incurred at the moment your results are generated (model inference, matching, and letter generation), fees are non-refundable once results are generated and delivered, even if no attorney responds to your outreach. Limited exceptions — such as a charged payment where our pipeline failed to produce results, a duplicate charge for the same case, or an unauthorized charge — are described in our Refunds policy. To request a refund under those conditions, contact support@attorneymatch.app.
- Failed or disputed payments. If a charge fails, is reversed, or is disputed, we may withhold or revoke access to the corresponding results.
5. Informational Directory & Matching Tool / No Legal Advice
IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Attorney Match is an informational directory and matching tool. It is NOT a law firm, NOT a lawyer-referral service, NOT a legal-services provider, and NOT a substitute for professional legal advice. Nothing in or produced by the Service constitutes legal advice, and no attorney–client relationship is formed between you and Martello Systems LLC, or between you and any attorney listed, matched, identified, or contacted through the Service.
The matching shortlist, rankings, "fit" explanations, and draft outreach letters produced by the Service are software-generated drafts intended to help you identify and contact attorneys. They are not legal opinions, are not a representation that any matter has merit, are not a recommendation of any particular attorney, and are not a representation that any specific course of action is advisable.
Attorney listings and profile details are aggregated from public and third-party sources and may be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, or inapplicable to your situation. A listing does not imply that the attorney is currently licensed, available, accepting cases, or qualified for your matter.
Statutes of limitations apply to most legal matters and can permanently bar a claim if missed. Do not delay contacting an attorney. The fact that the Service produced a draft does not mean your matter has been "reviewed" in any legal sense. You must independently verify any attorney's license status, qualifications, disciplinary history, and fitness before retaining them, and you should consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction before relying on any output of the Service.
6. Matching Results & Your Responsibility
- No guarantee of accuracy, fit, or response. We make reasonable efforts to compile useful listings and generate relevant matches, but we do not warrant that any listing, ranking, "fit" explanation, or letter is accurate, current, complete, or appropriate for your circumstances, or that any matched attorney is licensed, available, or willing to take your matter.
- Outreach is yours to send. We draft outreach letters for you; we do not send them and do not contact attorneys on your behalf. Whether, when, and to whom you send outreach — and the content of what you send — is entirely your decision and responsibility.
- No guarantee of outcome. Attorney response is never guaranteed. We optimize letters to improve the likelihood of a response; we do not control any attorney's decision to respond, to take your matter, or the terms on which they would do so.
- You remain solely responsible. You — not Attorney Match — are solely responsible for selecting, vetting, and retaining any attorney, for the accuracy of what you submit, and for any decision you make as a result of using the Service.
- Notify us of errors. If you believe a listing or other data in the Service is incorrect, please tell us at support@attorneymatch.app. We may correct it but are under no obligation to do so and assume no liability for any error.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to, and not to permit anyone else to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive purpose, or in violation of any applicable law;
- Use the Service to defraud, harass, impersonate, threaten, or interfere with any attorney's practice or another user's use of the Service;
- Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or that you do not have the right to submit, or that misrepresents the facts of your matter;
- Access, scrape, harvest, or copy the Service's listings or output except as expressly permitted, or use automated means without our written permission;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
- Interfere with, disrupt, overload, probe, scan, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data;
- Introduce malware or engage in any denial-of-service or similar activity;
- Resell, sublicense, rent, or use the Service or its output to build a competing product without our written permission.
We may investigate and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating access and revoking results, for any suspected violation.
8. Third-Party Services & Attorneys
The Service relies on and references third-party services, including our payment processor (Stripe), our email provider (Resend), our analytics provider (PostHog), public data sources (such as the Free Law Project / CourtListener and public state-bar records), automated-processing providers, and hosting and infrastructure providers. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, content, or practices of any third party. Listed attorneys are independent third parties; we do not employ, supervise, endorse, or vouch for any attorney, and a listing or match does not imply any affiliation, partnership, or endorsement. Your dealings with any attorney are solely between you and that attorney.
9. Communications Consent
- Service communications. When you submit a case or contact us, you consent to receive transactional and service-related communications from us by email, including your private results link, payment receipts, security or account notices, and changes to the Service or these Terms.
- Delivery is not guaranteed. Email delivery depends on third parties and your own provider's filtering; we do not guarantee that any email will be delivered or delivered on time. Your results remain available through the in-app status page regardless of email delivery.
- Opt-out. You may opt out of non-essential email through the unsubscribe link where provided, or by contacting support@attorneymatch.app, though we may still send essential transactional messages relating to a case you submitted.
10. Intellectual Property
- Our rights. The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, the Attorney Match name and brand, and all compiled and aggregated content (excluding your own submissions), is owned by Martello Systems LLC or its licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purpose of finding an attorney, subject to these Terms.
- Your content. You retain ownership of the case description, documents, and other materials you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and use Your Content solely to generate your results and to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Service, and as described in our Privacy Policy. You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit Your Content. Your case description and uploaded documents are encrypted at rest.
- Feedback. If you send us suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use it without restriction or obligation to you.
11. Disclaimers of Warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT, LISTINGS, MATCHES, RANKINGS, AND DRAFT LETTERS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that: the Service or any listing, match, or output is accurate, current, complete, reliable, or applicable to your situation; the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; any attorney listed or matched is licensed, available, or willing to take your matter; any outreach will be delivered, read, or answered; or the Service will meet your requirements or achieve any particular result. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL MARTELLO SYSTEMS LLC, ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, INCLUDING ANY DECISION TO RETAIN OR NOT RETAIN AN ATTORNEY OR ANY ATTORNEY'S ACTS OR OMISSIONS.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FEES YOU ACTUALLY PAID TO US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. These limitations form an essential basis of the bargain between you and us. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Martello Systems LLC and its owners, officers, members, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) Your Content or any information you submit; (c) any outreach you send or your dealings with any attorney; (d) your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.
14. Termination
- By you. You may stop using the Service at any time.
- By us. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law, to protect the Service or others, or for any other reason in our discretion.
- Effect of termination. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. We may delete Your Content after the retention period described in our Privacy Policy and applicable law. Sections that by their nature should survive — including 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, and 17 — survive termination.
15. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice. Changes are effective when posted unless stated otherwise. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
16. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
- Governing law. These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Utah and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
- Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at support@attorneymatch.app and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
- Binding arbitration. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and we agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by final and binding arbitration administered by a recognized arbitration provider under its applicable rules, rather than in court, except as provided below. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
- Class-action waiver. You and we agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding.
- Exceptions. Either party may (a) bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies, and (b) seek injunctive or equitable relief to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.
- Opt-out of arbitration. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to support@attorneymatch.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
- Time to file. To the extent permitted by law, any claim must be brought within one (1) year after it arises, or it is permanently barred.
